Meet Alan Doherty, Manager, GTM Recruiting
Nearly two years ago, Alan Doherty was looking for more than a recruiting role. He wanted the chance to build something meaningful from the ground up. Based in Ireland, he now leads GTM recruiting across EMEA and APAC, scaling teams that protect organizations from cyber threats that legacy tools miss.

Ownership With Meaning
"The level of ownership and trust here is unlike anywhere I've worked before," Alan reflects. That trust shows up in concrete ways: leading regional hiring strategies, building cross-functional partnerships, and shaping how Abnormal scales across two continents.
"Since joining, I've been given the trust and autonomy to lead regional hiring strategies and shape how we scale across EMEA and APAC. I've had the chance to hire and grow a team, drive cross-functional work, and partner closely with leaders across the business."
The learning curve has been steep, but supported. "It's been a steep learning curve, but in the best way. I've developed as a leader and broadened my perspective, all while feeling supported."
Challenge and Care in Balance
What drew Alan to Abnormal was the caliber of people he met during the interview process. "Everyone I met was sharp, humble, and passionate. It felt like the kind of place where I could grow and help others do the same."
What keeps him engaged is how performance is defined. "Performance isn't just about hitting targets. It's about how you show up, solve problems, and contribute to the bigger picture. Being solutions-focused is key here. People who lean into challenges and think critically about how to move things forward tend to thrive."
"The level of ownership and trust here is unlike anywhere I've worked before."
Global Connection, Remote Reality
Leading a distributed team across time zones could feel isolating, but Alan's experience has been the opposite. "There's a strong sense of connection here, even across time zones. People and teams genuinely make the effort to stay in sync."
When teams do gather in person, those moments are intentional and energizing. "When we do come together as a team or as a region, it's always intentional and valuable. It helps strengthen relationships and align us around what matters."
The hybrid work culture prioritizes both impact and well-being. "It's a culture that prioritizes impact and well-being, which makes a big difference."
Building for Scale, Solving Real Problems
What energizes Alan most is the tangible impact of the work. "The pace of growth and the chance to build for scale is really energizing. We're solving real problems for customers, and you see the impact of your work in a tangible way."
And, working with people who bring genuine passion to their roles makes all the difference.
"It's exciting to work with people who care deeply about what they do and bring that passion every day."
