The 2013 Internet Crime Complaint Report released by the FBI didn’t even mention business email compromise. A year later it was the second most financially-devastating crime and starting in 2015, it took the top spot. Each year since, it has continued to outpace itself—accounting for $2.4 billion in losses last year.
