A Year of Infrastructure
The work started well before this rollout. Over the last year, the team invested heavily in the infrastructure to support languages other than English in the portal platform, adding the first non-English language last year.
Rolling out the newest language was a chance to exercise all of that infrastructure and tooling in a real scenario, rather than leaving it as a capability on paper.
Style Guides and Guardrails
Two improvements did most of the heavy lifting. The team added a style guide for the languages and invested significantly in guardrails, so translation quality and coverage stay consistent as the portal grows.
Add a new piece of text, and it is guaranteed to show up in every language. Add a new language, and you get 100% of the translation.
Feedback Through Slack
Getting feedback was a core part of rolling out the new language. The team set this up as a Slack workflow so anyone in the company can take part.
A person clicks the Slack workflow, adds a short description of the issue, notes which language it affects, and points to the page where it appears.
From there, the agent takes over. Nora picks up the reported translation feedback and automatically creates a fix for it, closing the loop without a human having to hand off the work manually.
The payoff is reach. The portal can now support new languages for clients in markets that speak something other than English, turning language into far less of a barrier to entry.
What's Next
The design points toward more languages, not just this one. Because the guardrails guarantee full coverage whenever a new language is added, each expansion should be more predictable than the last.
That unblocks the teams responsible for entering new markets, who no longer have to treat translation as a manual, error-prone project every time.
The Slack-and-Nora loop is the part that scales. Feedback can come from anyone in the company, and the fix is handled by an agent, so the quality bar can keep rising as the portal reaches more clients in more languages.
